CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Duke field hockey trio of
Madison Beach,
Julia Boehringer and
Alaina McVeigh were tabbed to the Preseason All-ACC Field Hockey Team, while the Blue Devils were tied for third in the team standings, the conference announced following a vote of the league's nine head coaches.
North Carolina was picked as the preseason favorite with four first-place votes and 73 points, followed by Virginia who tallied 68 points and two first-place nods. Duke and Wake Forest tied for third with 64 points each.
McVeigh, the team's leading scorer the past two seasons, has been an essential piece to Duke's success throughout her career. In 2026, McVeigh became the second Blue Devil to collect three consecutive All-ACC First Team honors since the league started compiling two teams in 2013. She is the 12th Duke player to pick up three All-ACC honors in her career. The Lansdale, Pennsylvania, native paced the Blue Devil offense with 15 goals and nine assists to finish with a career-best 39 points. The 15 markers tied for 14th Duke single-season history while the 39 points tied for 20th. McVeigh scored a goal in 11 games and had multiple goals in four games last season. She delivered game winners in four games, including the 2-1 victory over Iowa in the NCAA Championship first round.
Boehringer and Beach are each coming off breakout sophomore campaigns, which saw the pair finish the season ranked second and third on the team with 25 and 18 points, respectively. Boehringer was the Blue Devils' second leading goal scorer with 10 tallies, highlighted by a hat trick in the ACC Tournament quarterfinal. After coming off the bench as a freshman, the Munich, Germany, product started every game for the Blue Devils last season and scored 22 more points than she did through 20 games in 2024.
The engine from the right side for the Blue Devils, Beach paced the distribution efforts with 12 assists to rank 14th in Duke single-season history. The Northbrook, Illinois, standout started all 21 games in 2025 and really hit her stride in the second half of the season with an assist in seven of the team's final 10 games. She also registered the game winner in a 3-1 victory at Boston College during that span.
Duke officially opens the 2026 season at home Aug. 28 against William & Mary. First hit is set for 5 p.m.
