Collins, Courtwright, Minestrella & Roller Named to Hermann Trophy Watch List

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's soccer led all schools with four selections as the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization for Coaches (IWSOC) and the United Soccer Coaches released the Hermann Trophy preseason watch list this week. Receiving accolades from Duke were junior Katie Shea Collins, redshirt junior Sam Courtwright, senior Mia Minestrella and senior Cameron Roller.

A native of Gallatin, Tennessee, Collins has opened the season with three goals and one assist through four games for the Blue Devils. Collins, a 2025 All-America selection, is one of the top scorers nationally over the last three years with 26 goals, nine assists and 61 points. She was a midseason Hermann Trophy watch list selection a season ago at South Carolina.

Courtwright has turned in two goals and three assists to open the 2026 season at Duke. A product of Dallas, Texas, Courtwright was a 2023 All-America selection at Texas Tech and has compiled 11 goals, 18 assists and 40 points over her career. She has either scored or assisted in three of Duke's first four contests.

With 36 goals over the last three years, Minestrella ranks second nationally. The Redondo Beach, California native has been on fire to open the season with six goals in four contests. She has scored in seven out of her last nine contests dating back to last season and has recorded back-to-back multi-goal performances. Minestrella was a Hermann Trophy midseason watch list selection a season ago.

For the second year in a row, Roller was on the Hermann Trophy preseason watch list. Roller, who hails from Sherman, Texas, is one of the top center backs in the nation and has helped Duke to 31 shutouts over the last four seasons. A 2024 All-America selection and ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Roller has totaled four goals, 10 assists and 18 points over her Blue Devil career.

The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor, recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by a vote of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.

The award is named in honor of the late Robert Hermann, the St. Louis, Missouri, businessman and soccer executive who founded the National Professional Soccer League — the first professional soccer league in the United States, which later became the North American Soccer League. Hermann was inducted into the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012.

Former Duke standout Michelle Cooper won the 2022 Hermann Award, marking the first Blue Devil to capture the honor.

The 2026 watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Women's All-America Council from a pool of returning 2025 All-Americans and First Team All-Region players. A total of 15 players will be named 2026 Hermann Trophy semifinalists December 4, at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes and three players will be named finalists. The 2026 recipient will be announced January 8, 2027, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.

Duke will next face Old Dominion Thursday, Aug. 27 in Norfolk, Virginia, at 6 p.m., on ESPN+.
