Blue Devils Gearing Up for PLL Playoffs

DURHAM, N.C.— The Premier Lacrosse League playoffs get underway Saturday in Minneapolis with a pair of quarterfinal matchups. Six former Blue Devils will suit up in the quarterfinals, and nine Duke alums overall will take part in PLL Playoffs.
PLL rookie Aidan Maguire helped Utah finish at the top of the Western Conference, while Michael Sowers and Kenny Brower put the Waterdogs in the No. 1 spot on the Eastern Conference table with a league-best 9-3 record. Both teams received byes to the semifinals set for Sept. 7.
Six Blue Devils will be in the opening quarterfinal between California and Denver. Andrew McAdorey and Aidan Danenza of the Redwoods will face familiar faces in former Blue Devils JT Giles-Harris, Jack Gray, Michael Manley and Brennan O'Neill of the Outlaws.
Maguire, in his first PLL season, has led Utah to a 7-3 record in his 10 outings. He has five goals, including one two-pointer, and an assist to go with his two caused turnovers and 12 ground balls.
The winner of the game advances to take on No. 2 overall seed Utah Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. Sowers and Brower will face either Boston or Maryland in the second semifinal at 5:30 p.m. The semifinals are set to be played in Salt Lake City.
The U.S. Bank Championship is scheduled for Sept. 20 in New Jersey.
