Duke Trio Named Finalists for PLL End of Year Awards

DURHAM, N.C.— A trio of former Blue Devils have been selected as finalists for the 2026 Lexus End of Year Awards, the Premier Lacrosse League announced Wednesday.
Michael Sowers is up for a pair of awards as the Eamon McEneaney Attackman of the Year and the Jim Brown Most Valuable Player. JT Giles-Harris is one of three finalists for the Dave Pietramala Defensive Player of the Year, while Michael Manley is up for the Brendan Looney Leadership Award for the second consecutive year.
The league's leader with 51 points, Sowers led the Philadelphia Waterdogs to a league-best 9-3 regular season record. He leads the PLL with 22 assists, three ahead of former Duke star Brennan O'Neill.
Suiting up for the Denver Outlaws, Giles-Harris and Manley anchor the close defense. Denver has given up the second fewest goals in the Western Conference and the fourth fewest in the league. Giles-Harris, the team's top cover guy, has four caused turnovers and 17 ground balls this season. In his 15th year of professional lacrosse, Manley has eight caused turnovers and 20 ground balls. He is the consummate professional and has played in 144 games and owns 88 caused turnovers and 345 ground balls.
All three will travel to Salt Lake City this weekend for the PLL Semifinals on Sept. 7. Manley and Giles-Harris take on Western Conference champ Utah, while Sowers plays the Boston Cannons. The Outlaws and Archers face off at 3 p.m., on ESPN2. The second semifinal is slated for a 5:30 p.m., start on ESPN+.
