Aleah Ryan joined the Duke Athletic Medicine staff in August 2017 and currently supports the fencing and field hockey teams. She spent the previous five seasons with Duke's swimming & diving program, where she contributed to their substantial progress and achievements.
A member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association since 2012, Ryan is certified in Integrative Dry Needling and Graston Therapy. She also provides medical coverage for USA Field Hockey High Performance Camps.
Originally from San Ramon, Calif., Ryan earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Utah in 2016. During her undergraduate studies, she worked extensively with Utah Football and the Utah Grizzlies, an ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks. She completed her master’s degree in Athletic Training at the University of Virginia, where she focused solely on their swimming and diving teams. Additionally, Ryan has completed internships with Stanford University’s football program and Ballet West, a professional ballet company based in Salt Lake City.
Ryan has published and contributed to research in athletic training, including being the lead author of a study on "Measures of Agility and Single-Legged Balance as Clinical Assessments in Patients With Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction and Healthy Individuals" published in the Journal of Athletic Training. She has also co-authored research on ACL recovery and swimming and diving analytics.
