Freshman: Rewrote the distance freestyle records of Duke as a freshman … both records came during the same swim in which he registered a 15:40.34 in the 1650 free and split a 9:25.51 over the first 1000 yards of the race … contributed to the team immediately with two wins in his first collegiate meet (500, 1000 free) … the following meet against N.C. State and Maryland he placed second and third in the 1000 free and 500 free, respectively … recorded his fastest time of the season in the 500 free in the qualifying rounds of the Gamecock Invitational (4:33.72) … swam to a 1:46.36 second-place finish in his first 200 freestyle of the year (1:46.36) … finished out the season with two first-place finishes against Clemson; one in the 500 free (4:38.33) and the other in the 1000 free (9:29.24) … named to the ACC Honor Roll …
