AUSTIN, TEXAS - In front of a Sunday night crowd of 2,459, No. 5 Texas defeated No. 21 Duke, 2-1.  In the Blue Devils' first road game, freshman Carolyn Riggs scored the lone goal for the Blue Devils.
Duke outshot Texas 6-4 in the first period, but Katie McBain was able to get the Longhorns on the board with the first goal at the 38:41 mark.  Then at the 59:37 mark, Texas' Kelly McDonald scored on an assist by McBain and Laura Kram to increase their lead to 2-0.
Duke outshot the Longhorns 16-13 for the game, but struggled to get the ball in the net.  The Blue Devils never gave up, however, and Riggs scored her first collegiate goal at the 86:29 mark off an assist from classmate Shelly Marshall.
The Blue Devil's are 1-1 and travel to Chapel Hill next weekend for the Nike Carolina Classic.  The Blue Devils will face No. 12 Washington on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and Wofford on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
