ATHENS, GA - The 17th-ranked Blue Devil's lost for the third consecutive match as they fell to host Georgia, 1-0, in a nonconference match up Sunday afternoon at UGA Soccer/Softball Complex.  It was the first time this season Duke was shutout by its opponent.
Halfway through the first half, Georgia's Tricia McKee was tackled in the Duke box , setting up a penalty kick for the Bulldogs.  Carolyn Cayard took the kick at the 21:51 mark, putting it past Duke goalkeeper Thora Helgadottir for what turned in to the game winning goal.
The Blue Devils (5-5-0) mounted strong attacks late in the half with Georgia keeper Ashley Lindley making three key saves.  Duke out shot Georgia 8-2 in the first half.
Duke had several scoring chances in the second half, out shooting Georgia 14-3 overall in the game.  The Blue Devils netted a shot in the 88th minute.  However, they were ruled offside, negating the goal.  The Bulldogs held on for the 1-0  win.
The Blue Devils return home for the ACC home opener on Saturday, October 5, against Clemson and then host Florida State on Tuesday, October 8.  Both games start at 7:00 p.m.
