WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.?Duke University sophomore Reka Zsilinszka captured a pair of singles victories and one doubles win to advance to the quarterfinals in both draws today at the Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championship at Wake Forest University. The Blue Devils had four players in action today at the annual tournament.
Zsilinszka and Amanda Granson opened the day with a convincing 8-2 victory over East Tennessee State's Yevgeniya Stupak and Paula Jamie. The win pushes the fifth-seeded duo into the quarterfinals against No. 9 seed Keri Wong and Ida Hedziselimovic of Clemson.
Zsilinszka breezed through her following singles match, dropping Stupak, 6-0, 6-1. Matching up against ACC foe Sierra Poske in the next round, Zsilinszka won again in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. She will take on Jackie Wu of Vanderbilt in the quarterfinals on Sunday, Oct. 26.
Granson also lined up at singles for the Blue Devils as a No. 9 seed. She took on Sophie Grabinski from North Carolina, falling 6-3, 6-4. Sophomore Ellah Nze dropped a tough match to Tar Heel Shinann Featherson, 6-2, 7-5, while Jessi Robinson lost to Berkeley Brock of N.C. State, 6-1, 6-4.
The Blue Devils continue their run through the tournament on Sunday, Oct. 26 in both doubles and singles action. Doubles action kicks off at 9 a.m., and singles matches will follow.
