ATLANTA - The Duke swimming & diving team continued action at the 2008 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday, as the Blue Devils set their third school record of the event over just two days of competition.
The Duke foursome of senior Ryan Packer, freshman Nick Garvy and sophomores David Hahn and David Carlson set a new all-time Duke best for the 200 freestyle relay touching in 1:21.85, besting the previous school record mark of 1:23.30 set in 2005 by Packer, David Peck, Kevin Arthofer and Billy Pearce. For the event, Duke placed eighth.
In 500 free finals action, sophomore Andrew Clark placed ninth in 4:33.88,.
Finals competition for the 200 IM saw Garvy and sophomore JD Coppel take 21st and 22nd place in 1:52.79 and 1:54.03, respectively.
Day three of the ACC Championships resumes Friday with preliminaries beginning at 11 a.m. and finals starting at 7 p.m.
