FLUSHING, N.Y. – Reka Zsilinszka competed in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships on Thursday. The Blue Devil senior fell in her opening round match 7-6(2), 6-3
In her opening round singles match Zsilinszka faced off against Sona Novakova from Baylor, the Texas Regional Champion in singles and doubles. Zsilinszka opened the first set with a 2-1 advantage and ending up falling in the first set 7-6(2) in a tiebreaker.
Novakova kept the momentum throughout the second set, after getting the come-from-behind tiebreak win in the first set. Zsilinszka lost her opening round match 7-6(2), 6-3, and will play in the consolation singles bracket on Friday.
Zsilinszka has been tabbed as the top-seed in the consolation singles bracket and is matched up against Kristen Strimple from Point Loma Nazarene at 11:30 a.m.
The Duke women's tennis team will compete at the Kitty Harrison Invitational on Friday. The Kitty Harrison Invitational is hosted by North Carolina. The Blue Devils will play all of their matches at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
