CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Duke swimmers suffered a dual loss (Women: 122-163, and Men: 107-186) to the Tarheels on Friday at the Koury Natatorium in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The Blue Devils were unable to edge out the Tarheels in the 200 medley relays, but true to form, Duke's All-America swimmer Ashley Twichell pulled out a win for the Devils in the 1000 free, and again in the 500 free.
Sophomore Emily Barber continues to dominate, picking up a pair on wins in both the 100 and 200 breast.
On the men's side, the Blue Devils were unable to pick up a first place finish against the unbeaten Tarheels, except in the 100 butterfly, where senior Nick Garvy finished with a season best time of 49.74
With Duke's top divers Abby Johnston and Nick McCrory competing in the USA Winter Diving Championships, freshman Haley Ishimatsu and redshirt sophomore Jessica Lyden traded top finishes in the three-meter and one-meter. Sophomore Jordan Long also picked up a top finish in the three-meter with a score of 328.88.
The Blue Devils return to Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 5, to host the College Cup Invitational. Preliminary rounds begin at 9:00 a.m.
