DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke swimmers opened competition on Saturday, hosting North Carolina and N.C. State in the annual College Cup Invitational.
The day opened with the women's 50 free, where the Blue Devil's own, Kirstie Jeffrey grabbed third in the finals, closely followed by freshman Kelly Hagerty grabbing fourth.
Blue Devil Allie Speidel had a top finish with a time of 59.54 in the 100 back, which also sealed a first place finish for the senior.
In the closing events of today's competition, sophomore Chris Cirillo grabbed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.85, breaking under 50 for the first time this season.
The teams will close competition tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 6, with preliminaries beginning at 9:00 a.m., and finals at 5:00 p.m.
