For over 50 years, the New York Athletic Club of New York City, USA, has hosted the annual NYAC Holiday International Wrestling Championships, now known as the Bill Farrell Memorial International Open.
The event is named in honor of the late Bill Farrell, former NYAC Wrestling Chairman and 1972 Olympic coach. November is a great time of the year to be in New York, and we are expecting the best wrestling competition in the world at the 2016 Bill Farrell Memorial International Open.
This year the Bill Farrell Memorial will serve as the U.S. Non-Olympic Weight World Team Trials Qualifier.
Finesilver, a two-time NCAA qualifier, will compete in the freestyle 70 kg weight class. He has wrestled at 133 and 149 pounds for the Blue Devils and was the third true freshman to qualify for the NCAA Championships when he did so in 2015. He followed that with an ACC runner-up showing at 149 pounds last season and fell just one win shy of landing on the podium at NCAA Championships. Finesilver is 40-18 overall in his two seasons at Duke.
While Finesilver is in New York City, Duke will be preparing to open its dual schedule with No. 15 Oregon State in Boone, N.C. That match is set to begin at 12 p.m. The Blue Devils also will wrestle against Belmont Abbey at 2 p.m.
