GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following a week where she averaged 25.0 points, 7.5 assists, 7.0 steals and 5.5 rebounds, Duke University fifth-year senior Lexie Brown has been selected ACC Player of the Week by a vote of the Blue Ribbon Panel.
A native of Suwanee, Ga., Brown helped lead Duke to victories over UNC Greensboro and Winthrop on the week. She collected back-to-back games with 20 or more points for the first time this season and the sixth time as a Blue Devil.
On Sunday against Winthrop, Brown collected a season-high 30 points in a 101-30 victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium. She added six steals, six assists and four rebounds in 29 minutes. Earlier in the week, the 5-9 guard nearly registered a triple-double with 20 points, nine assists, eight steals and seven rebounds in an 85-54 win over UNC Greensboro.
She hit 64.7 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from three-point land over the two games. Duke improved to 8-2 on the season heading into exam break.
In the ACC stats, Brown currently ranks third in scoring (20.0), first in steals (3.7), second in free throw percentage (88.1), tied fifth in assists (5.2), eighth in three-point field goal percentage (41.3), 11th in field goal percentage (52.2) and tied 11th in assist/turnover ratio (1.9).
The honor for Brown is the second of her career as she earned the award once in 2016-17.
Duke features eight days off for final exams, before returning to action Tuesday, Dec. 19 as the Blue Devils host Maine at 7 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The game will be aired live on ACC Network Extra.
