Johns, Sculley Drop Three-Set Heartbreaker in Consolation Semifinals

TULSA, Okla. – The No. 9 ranked doubles team of Garrett Johns and Sean Sculley fell in the 2021 ITA All-American Championships consolation semifinals on Saturday night to No. 39 Chris Rodesch and Ryan Goetz of Virginia.

The pair dropped a three-set heartbreaker to their ACC foe, falling in the opening set 6-7 (5) before battling back in the second for a 7-6 (5) victory. In the final set, the Cavalier duo outlasted the Blue Devils 10-6 to claim the win.

Johns, Sculley and the rest of the Duke team will be back in action at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships on Oct. 22-26. The Blue Devils will be hosting the event in Cary, N.C. at the Cary Tennis Park.
