DURHAM – The 10th-ranked Duke women's tennis team will open ACC action this week as the Blue Devils (10-1) will travel to Virginia Tech (8-1) on Friday, Feb. 24 and 20th-ranked Virginia (6-2) on Sunday, Feb. 26 for a pair of matches on the road. Both contests will feature a first serve of 1 p.m.
The Series with Virginia Tech
Duke and Virginia Tech will meet for the 29th time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 26-2. Of the two losses, one of them came in Blacksburg, Va., on March 6, 2016 (5-2). In matches played at Virginia Tech, Duke holds an 8-1 ledger. The Blue Devils are riding a five-match winning streak against the Hokies.
Scouting Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech holds an 8-1 record heading into Friday's match against the Blue Devils. The Hokies have won three straight contests since dropping a 4-3 decision on the road at Charlotte. Virginia Tech is a perfect, 8-0, record at home this season.
Hey, I Know You
Duke will go up against Virginia Tech head coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Holdren for the 20th time in school history with the Blue Devils holding an 17-2 record against the coach. Zawacki-Holdren is the sister of former Duke All-American Tory Zawacki, who competed for the Blue Devils from 2004-08.
The Series with Virginia
Duke and Virginia will meet on Sunday for the 74th time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 64-9. In matches played in Charlottesville, Va., Duke is 25-5. The Blue Devils won both meetings a season ago, after dropping both contests in 2021.
Scouting Virginia
Virginia will enter the weekend with a 6-2 ledger and will host North Carolina on Friday, Feb. 24 prior to hosting Duke on Sunday, Feb. 26. So far this season, the Cavaliers are 5-0 at home.
In the latest ITA rankings, the Cavaliers are listed No. 20 and feature four singles players ranked – Julia Adams (38), Annabelle Xu (50), Hibah Shaikh (92) and Natasha Subhash (110). The doubles teams of Elaine Chervinsky and Subhash (7) along with Adams and Melodie Collard (41) are listed as well.
A Look Back at ITA Indoors
After dropping the opening match at ITA Indoors against Oklahoma, the Blue Devils turned in an impressive, 4-3, win against No. 6 Stanford and a 4-1 victory over host Washington.
Chloe Beck went 3-0 in singles to pace the Blue Devils.
What is Next?
Duke will return home to host Notre Dame (March 3) and Louisville (March 5) the following weekend. The matches are scheduled to be played outside in Ambler Tennis Stadium unless the weather forces them to be moved inside the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. The Notre Dame match is slated for a 5 p.m., first serve, while the Louisville match will start at 11 a.m.
Win Streaks in ACC Action
Duke currently owns a nine-match winning streak against ACC opponents heading into this weekend. Senior
Chloe Beck has a 15-match regular season winning streak against ACC foes dating back to her sophomore campaign. Beck went 13-0 last season becoming just the fourth Blue Devil to go undefeated in ACC play with 10 or more wins. Overall, Beck has notched a 24-2 ACC singles mark and 18-3 ACC doubles ledger.
Cameron Morra owns a 35-7 ACC singles and 26-5 ACC doubles mark over her career.
100-Win Club
During Duke's run at the ITA National Team Indoors, graduate student
Cameron Morra became the 28th Blue Devil to reach the 100-win mark. She collected a 6-3, 7-5 win over Washington's Sarah-Maude Fortin on Feb. 12 to reach the milestone. Morra now owns a 100-39 ledger over five seasons at Duke and North Carolina.

Chloe Beck is only eight wins away from reaching 100 wins as well, while featuring a 92-24 ledger. Beck also owns a 57-8 dual match record and has won 12 straight matches.
In the Rankings
Duke is currently ranked No. 10 in the ITA poll, which is sponsored by Tennis-Point. With the preseason top-10 ranking, the Blue Devils have been listed in the top 10 in seven straight years under the direction of head coach
Jamie Ashworth. In his 27th season at the helm, Ashworth has guided Duke to a total of 20 top-10 preseason rankings since 2001.

Beck Earns Honors
After collecting a 3-0 ledger in singles at the ITA National Team Indoors,
Chloe Beck earned ACC Co-Player of the Week honors. At the No. 1 singles position, Beck helped lead Duke to wins against No. 6 Stanford and versus host Washington. Beck registered an impressive win over Stanford's third-ranked Connie Ma, 6-4, 6-3, as the Blue Devils won, 4-3, as a team. Her two-set victory over Washington clinched the match for Duke.
Beck and her partner,
Cameron Morra, were leading all three of their doubles matches, 4-2, 4-3, 5-3, before the doubles point was clinched.
Both Beck and Morra have each been selected ACC Player of the Week this season.
Noting the Blue Devils
• After playing the first eight matches at home, Duke is on the road for the ITA Indoors and then the ACC opener at Virginia Tech (Feb. 24) and Virginia (Feb. 26). The Blue Devils won't return home until March 3 against Notre Dame.
