DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off an impressive victory over a top 10 opponent on Friday, the 11th-ranked Duke women's tennis team (2-0) hosts a pair of teams on Monday, Jan. 20 inside the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. The Blue Devils face Virginia Tech (0-0) at 9 a.m., and then welcome North Carolina Central at 6 p.m.
Admission is free and parking will be available in the blue zone lot adjacent to the tennis center.
The Series with Virginia Tech
Duke and Virginia Tech will meet for the 30th time in program history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 27-2. The Blue Devils have totaled a 17-0 ledger at home in the series and have won seven-straight against the Hokies. Duke head coach

Monday's matchup will be a non-conference contest since the two teams were not slated to face each other in ACC play this year.
Scouting Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech (0-0) is led by Terry Ann Zawacki-Holdren and features a 0-0 record on the season. Zawacki-Holdren is the sister of former Duke All-American Tory Zawacki. The Hokies open the regular season Monday against the Blue Devils. Virginia Tech is coming off a season where it posted a 9-13 ledger.
The Hokies feature Laima Frosch ranked No. 124 in singles. In doubles, Ozlem Uslu and Charlotte Cartledge are ranked No. 62, while Semra Aksu and Uslu are No. 73.
The Series with NCCU
Duke and NCCU will face off for the third time in program history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 2-0. Blue Devil head coach

Scouting NCCU
North Carolina Central opens the 2025 regular season Monday against Virginia Tech in Durham at 1:30 p.m., and then will face the Blue Devils at 6 p.m. The Eagles are coming off a 6-15 ledger a season ago under head coach Sofia Rachi.
Duke Versus the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
Duke currently has a 2-0 record against the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with the lone contests coming against NCCU (2-0). The two teams last met in January of 2024, with the Blue Devils sweeping the Eagles 7-0.
What is Next
The Blue Devils travel to Charlottesville, Va., to compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend Jan. 24-25. Duke faces South Carolina on Friday, Jan. 24 at 4 p.m., and then face either New Mexico or Virginia on Saturday. The winning team over the weekend advances to the National Team Indoors
Last Time Out
After falling behind early, 11th-ranked Duke came-from-behind to defeat 10th-ranked Pepperdine, 4-3, on Friday inside the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. Duke dropped the doubles point, but was able to take four of the six singles courts to get the win.
Junior
Katie Codd clinched the victory on court six, which marked her second match-clinching win over the last two years against a top 15 opponent. The victory marked the fifth-straight win against a top 10 opponent at home in the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.

ITA Rankings
Duke has been preseason ranked No. 11 nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The Blue Devils received one first-place vote and were one of five teams that received first-place votes – Georgia (3), Texas A&M (7), Stanford (1) and Oklahoma State (1). Georgia was ranked No. 1 followed by Texas A&M, Stanford, Oklahoma State, UCLA, North Carolina, Texas, Michigan, Virginia, Pepperdine and Duke in the top 11.
A total of eight ACC teams were ranked – Stanford (3), North Carolina (6), Virginia (9), Duke (11), California (13), NC State (14), Miami (23) and Florida State (24).
In the final fall singles rankings, Duke boasted four ranked student-athletes in singles --
Emma Jackson (25),
Eleana Yu (30),
Irina Balus (36) and
Shavit Kimchi (49) – along with two ranked doubles teams –
Ellie Coleman and Balus (10) along with Jackson and Yu (71).
