DURHAM, N.C.— Duke women's basketball and head coach
Kara Lawson announced the signing of
Bella Flemings to its 2026 freshman class Tuesday as the November signing period winds down. Flemings comes to Durham as ESPN's 16th-ranked player in the 2026 class.
"I chose Duke because of the people there," said Flemings. "The minute I stepped on campus I felt at home. I also believe I would thrive in the system that Coach Kara instills for the team. There's no better place."
Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Flemings is one of the premier five-star guards in the country. She is a combo guard who has an elite shooting ability, skill, versatility and strength. She stands at 6-0 and possesses an impressive basketball IQ to go along with her fierce competitive spirit.
Flemings stars at Brennan High School and for SA Finest on the AAU circuit. She scored 47 points in the regional championship as a sophomore, which included a baseline jumper over current Blue Devil
Arianna Roberson to force a second overtime en route to the 80-73 win.
Lawson on Flemings
"I could go on for a long time about Bella. I love Bella. Our connection is really strong, and she fits Duke in every way – her personality, her charisma. She has so many strong skills I think that fit with what we need. Her shooting is something that brings a different dynamic to our offense. Her ability to stretch the floor and be so consistent in doing so. She's a playmaking guard. She's got great positional size and strength. I love her communication. She's such a great leader already and I think she'll develop into a great leader here in a Blue Devil uniform.
