LAST TIME OUT
- In their last match, the Blue Devils secured all three points, defeating Syracuse, 2-0, in Duke's ACC home opener on Friday, Sept. 19. Jose Ortega opened the scoring with an early goal, his first of the season, assisted by Trevor Burns and Max Simpson. In the second half, Ulfur Bjornsson, seeing action for the first time since Aug. 24, blasted home his first goal in the second half, with Simpson and Thomas Vold earning the assists.
- Simpson became the first Blue Devil to record multiple assists in a match since Luke Thomas accomplished the feat against Longwood on Oct. 29, 2024. The freshman started and played 74 minutes against the Orange and now has four points, courtesy of one goal (vs. San Diego) and his two helpers.
- Bjornsson scored the first goal of his season against Syracuse, snapping a four-match streak without a goal, which tied for the longest such stretch in his Duke career. The preseason No. 1 player in the country by TopDrawerSoccer missed three Duke matches after suffering an injury against UC San Diego on Aug. 24.
- Duke goalkeeper Eryk Dymora was solid in net against the Orange, securing the second shutout of his Duke career. The Monmouth transfer saved both shots he faced and now has 23 combined clean sheets between his time with Duke and the Hawks.
FRIENDLY CONFINES OF KOSKINEN
