CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 27 Duke men's golf team returns to action this weekend at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, hosted by North Carolina at UNC Finley Golf Club. The 54-hole event features 36 holes on Saturday with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m., followed by the final round Sunday, beginning at 8 a.m.
Duke enters the tournament following a strong stretch of spring play, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate and a top-10 showing at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational. The Blue Devils have posted five top-five finishes across eight events this season, including a victory at the Rod Myers Invitational to open the fall.
A competitive 14-team field includes four programs ranked among the nation's top 50, led by No. 11 North Carolina, No. 27 Duke, No. 29 Texas A&M and No. 42 UNC Wilmington. Furman, Gardner-Webb, ETSU, Elon, UCF, Nebraska, Campbell, Florida Atlantic, Houston and Kennesaw State round out the field.
Duke's lineup is paced by junior
Bryan Kim, who is ranked No. 11 nationally and owns a team-best 70.00 stroke average. Kim has captured two individual titles this season, including a record-tying 197 (-16) performance at the Bryan Bros Collegiate.Â
Senior
William Love has been equally impactful, posting a 71.04 stroke average and entering the weekend following a co-medalist finish at the Seahawk Intercollegiate. Love also earned ACC Men's Golfer of the Month honors for March after producing nine rounds of par or better, including seven under par, and a combined 27-under total across three events.
Senior
Ethan Evans adds experience to the lineup after recording a pair of top-three finishes this season, including a runner-up showing at the Bryson Invitational. Evans also delivered a final-round 65 at last year's Tar Heel Intercollegiate to tie for fifth place.
Rounding out the Blue Devils' lineup are senior
Daniel Choi and sophomore
Ollie Mukherjee. Choi has registered a top-10 finish this spring, while Mukherjee continues to gain experience in the team rotation. Duke's depth will also be on display, as sophomores
Sam Mukherjee and
John Hiller, along with freshmen
Alexander Weinberg and
Charles Nelson, compete as individuals.
Admission is free and parking is available at the nearby soccer, lacrosse and track complex on Old Mason Farm Road. Shuttle service will run continuously to the clubhouse.
