NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. – Duke alum Alex Smalley earned runner-up honors at the PGA Championship on Sunday at Aronimink Golf Club, finishing at 6-under-par 274 (67-69-68-70).
Competing in his fifth career major championship, the 29-year-old recorded his first top-20 finish at a major.
Smalley was the only player in the field to shoot under par in each of the first three rounds. He carded five back-nine birdies during Saturday's third round to take a two-shot lead into Sunday, then closed the tournament with an eagle on the par-5 16th hole and a birdie on 18 to finish tied for second on the leaderboard.
Smalley entered the PGA Championship with momentum after posting two top-10 finishes in April, including a runner-up showing at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, where he helped tie the tournament record with an opening-round 14-under-par 58.
Fellow Duke alum Max Greyserman tied for 14th place at 2-under-par 278 (68-69-71-70) at the PGA Championship, marking his best finish of the 2026 season.
