DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke men's tennis doubles All-AmericaÂ
Theo Winegar has broken into the ATP doubles top 100. Following consecutive ATP Challenger title wins, Winegar has reached No. 96.Â
Winegar, who graduated from Columbia in May 2024 and joined the Blue Devils for the 2024-25 campaign, earned ITA Doubles All-America honors in 2025 after finishing No. 3 in the final doubles rankings with
Cooper Williams. Winegar was also an All-ACC Doubles First Team selection in 2025. Williams and Winegar also competed in the U.S. Open Wild Card Playoffs.
"I am really proud of Theo for reaching this major milestone so early in his professional career," head coach
Ramsey Smith said. "It is exciting and rewarding to see Theo's relentless work, passion and dedication to his doubles craft paying off at the highest level. Keep an eye on Theo as this is just the start of his young career."
As a Blue Devil, Winegar led the team with 25 doubles wins (25-14), including a 14-7 dual match record and a 4-4 mark in conference play. He notched notable doubles wins with Williams over the No. 21 Notre Dame pairing of Sebastian Dominko and Chase Thompson in the ACC Championship second round (6-4), No. 6 Braden Shick and Fons Van Sambeek of NC State in the ACC Championship quarterfinals (6-2) and No. 9 Alex Kotzen and Alejandro Moreno of Tennessee in the NCAA Championship second round (6-3).
Pairing with Williams, Winegar earned a spot in the US Open main draw last summer as the duo defeated Stanford's Nicholas Godsick and Hudson Rivera in the championship match of the 2025 American Collegiate Wild Card Playoff. Once at the Open, Winegar and Williams won their first-round match against Petr Nouza and Patrik Rikl of the Czech Republic before falling in a tight second-round contest against fourth-seeded Tim Putz and Kevin Krawietz, 7-6, 7-6.Â
Winegar also graduated with his Master of Management Studies from Duke's Fuqua School of Business in May 2025.
"I'm incredibly proud to be in the top 100 in just less than a year after being on the Duke men's tennis team," Winegar said. "Ramsey [Smith], TJ [Pura], Jay [Lapidus] and the whole Duke network have been extremely supportive and helped me get to where I am today. There's still a long way to go! Go Duke!"
In his last two outings, Winegar has captured the ATP Wuxi Challenger 100 and ATP Istanbul Challenger 75. The No. 96 ranking is a career high for Winear as his previous best was No. 103 on May 18, 2026.Â
