DURHAM, N.C.— A trio of former Blue Devils will take to the court as the 2026 WNBA season kicks off Friday night.
Lexie Brown and
Chelsea Gray make their 2026 debuts May 8 and
Elizabeth Williams is set to open her season the following night.

Brown, Gray, Williams Open the 2026 Season This Weekend
Brown is beginning her ninth season in the WNBA and her second with the Seattle Storm. A member of the 2021 WNBA Champion Chicago Sky squad, Brown has played in 175 career regular season games while helping three franchises advance to the WNBA playoffs. Brown has battled injuries over the past couple seasons, playing in just 24 games with the Storm a year ago.
Gray, a four-time WNBA Champion, begins her 12th season in the league and her sixth with the Las Vegas Aces. She has started an impressive 301 regular season games and 56 playoff contests in her lengthy career. The 2022 WNBA Finals MVP and five-time WNBA All-Star, Gray averages 11.9 points, 5.1 assists and 3.2 rebounds in regular season basketball. She has shined in the playoffs, posting 11.2 points, 7.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game.
In her 12th season, Williams is in her fourth season with the Chicago Sky. She played a career-high 43 games last season, averaging 8.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Williams has totaled 2,477 points, 1,680 rebounds and 444 blocks during her WNBA career. She is a two-time All-Defensive Team selection and was the 2016 Most Improved Player.
Jackson, Mair, Sowah Sign Player Development Contracts
The trio of
Ashlon Jackson, Taina Mair and
Miela Sowah [Goodchild]Â recently signed Player Development contracts. Jackson, a second-round draft pick by the Golden State Valkyries, is now a member of the Connecticut Sun. Sowah was signed by the Valkyries after a strong season in Australia's WNBL, where she guided the Townsville Fire to the WNBL title. The Seattle Storm added Mair to one of two Player Development slots after drafting the guard in the first round last month.
Thomas and Christmas on WNBA Staffs
Former standouts
Jasmine Thomas and
Karima Christmas-Kelly have gone into front office roles with WNBA clubs. Thomas is the Vice President of Basketball Operations and Assistant General Manager with the Dallas Wings while Christmas-Kelly is an assistant coach with the Indiana Fever.
