DURHAM, N.C. – Duke men's golf alum Alex Smalley concluded the 2026 PGA Tour regular season 25th in the FedExCup points standings, securing his second career FedExCup Playoffs appearance and first since 2023.
The three-event playoff series begins Thursday with the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. The tournament runs Aug. 13-16 and features the top 70 players in the FedExCup standings.
Smalley, who competed at Duke from 2015-19, delivered five top-10 finishes and 10 top-25 performances during the regular season. He secured his playoff position with a tie for seventh at the Wyndham Championship, moving to No. 25 in the season-long standings.
The 29-year-old's campaign was highlighted by a tie for second at the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club. Smalley completed the championship at 6-under 274 following rounds of 67, 69, 68 and 70. The result marked his first top-20 finish in five career major championship appearances.
Smalley enters the postseason ranked No. 46 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
The FedExCup Playoffs continue with the BMW Championship, scheduled for Aug. 20-23 at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis. The top 50 players following the FedEx St. Jude Championship will advance to the BMW Championship.
The top 30 in the standings after the BMW Championship will qualify for the season-ending Tour Championship, set for Aug. 27-30 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
Smalley turned professional in 2019 following his standout four-year Duke career.
