NEED TO KNOW

The fourth-ranked Duke women's soccer team will play its third consecutive match against a ranked opponent as the Blue Devils host 15th-ranked Notre Dame Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m., inside Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium.
The match will air live on the ACC Network with Jenn Hildreth (PXP), Kacey White (Color) and Devon Kerr (Sideline) calling the action.
The Blue Devils boast a 13-match home winning streak dating back to last season. Over the last three years, Duke owns a 29-1-2 record at Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium.
Duke has outscored opponents, 21-1, at home in four matches in 2026.
Seniors Cameron Roller and Mia Oliaro were named captains for 2026.
Head coach Kieran Hall is in his second year as head coach of the Blue Devils, after leading Duke to the NCAA College Cup in his first season in 2025 with a 17-5-1 record.
The No. 3 preseason ranking for Duke marks the fourth time in the last five seasons the Blue Devils have been a preseason top-five team and the 10th time in school history.

STORYLINES/OTHER BLUE DEVIL NOTES

The top two scorers nationally over the last three years will be on the same pitch Thursday with Duke's Mia Minestrella and Notre Dame's Izzy Engle.
Mia Minestrella became the first Blue Devil to notch three straight seasons with 10 or more goals. She has scored 39 goals over her last 48 matches. During that span, Minestrella has recorded 13 assists and 91 points.
The Blue Devils have scored 13 goals over the last three matches.
In 41 matches at home over her career, Mia Minestrella has scored 29 goals.
Since taking over as head coach in 2025, Kieran Hall has totaled a 2-1 record in games after suffering a loss. The Blue Devils dropped back-to-back losses last year against Notre Dame and Wake Forest.
Mia Oliaro returned to the starting lineup against Stanford and had her first assist of the year. She has 12 assists in 25 games against ranked opponents over the last three years.
In 11 matches against ranked opponents in 2025, Mia Minestrella totaled eight goals and two assists. Over the last two years, she has notched 12 goals and seven assists against 25 ranked opponents.
Cameron Roller has started 61 matches in a row as a Blue Devil.
Duke featured four players on the MAC Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch list that was released Wednesday -- Sam Courtwright, Katie Shea Collins, Mia Minestrella and Cameron Roller.
Last year, Kieran Hall became just the third Division I women's soccer coach in NCAA history to take a team to the NCAA College Cup in his first year as a head coach -- Damon Nahas of UNC in 2024 and Marguerie Bates of UCLA in 2022.
Over the last two years, Duke has sent eight alumnae to the NWSL -- Hannah Bebar (Bay FC), Leah Freeman (San Diego Wave FC), Maggie Graham (Houston Dash), Ella Hase (Racing Louisville FC), Mary Long (Kansas City Current), Carina Lageyre (Angel City FC), Kat Rader (Houston Dash) and Devin Lynch (Denver Summit).

THE SERIES WITH NOTRE DAME

Duke and Notre Dame will meet for the 25th time in program history with the Fighting Irish leading the series, 12-8-4.
The Blue Devils are 3-3-2 against Notre Dame in matches played in Durham.
Notre Dame won both meetings in 2025, including a 3-2 victory in South Bend during the regular season and a 2-1 win in the ACC Tournament semifinals.
Duke is seeking its first victory over the Fighting Irish since a 1-0 overtime win in Durham on Oct. 21, 2021.
Mia Minestrella has scored two career goals against Notre Dame - one in both 2025 and 2024. Each goal came in South Bend, Indiana.

Duke senior Mia Minestrella has scored a goal against 13 different ACC teams (regular season and postseason). The only teams she has not scored a goal against is – Syracuse (only played once), Florida State (only played once) and Wake Forest (only played twice)
In 2026, Minestrella has scored in both of Duke's ACC regular-season games and had two goals in those matches
In 2025, Minestrella scored in seven of her 10 ACC regular-season games and had a total of eight goals in those matches
In 2024 and 2025, Minestrella played 20 ACC regular-season games and scored in 12 of those for a total of 13 goals.

Duke currently features Mia Minestrella at the top of the ACC in points per game (2.75) and goals per game (1.25). Katie Shea Collins ranks tied for fifth in points per game (2.00) and sixth in goals per game (0.75).
Sam Courtwright ranks first in the league with a 0.75 assists-per-game average.
Duke leads the ACC in goals per game (3.63), assists per game (4.13) and points per game (11.38).
In the NCAA rankings, the Blue Devils are seventh in assists and fifth in points-per-game, while being 10th in total goals (29).
Minestrella leads the nation with a 1.25 goals per game average and 2.75 points-per-game mark.

Duke senior Mia Minestrella has scored 10 goals over the first eight contests, which is the most in Duke history.

MCLANAHAN NETS FIRST GOAL

A highly regarded scorer coming out of high school, freshman Rylee McLanahan registered her first collegiate goal on the road at seventh-ranked North Carolina last week.
She tallied the goal at the 41:06 mark of the first half to even the score, 1-1.
McLanahan scored 107 goals in 45 matches in high school.

MINESTRELLA NETS MORE HISTORY

Duke senior Mia Minestrella currently owns 10 goals so far in 2026 to become the first Duke student-athlete to total three straight seasons with 10 or more goals.
Three different Blue Devils notched back-to-back seasons with 10+ goals, but none have done it three times -- Kelly Walbert (1994 & 1995), Kayla McCoy (2017 & 2018) and Michelle Cooper (2021 & 2022).

GAME WINNERS

Over the last three years, Duke's Katie Shea Collins owns 13 game-winning goals, which leads the nation.
Among the active career leaders in the NCAA, Collins leads the group with 13 game-winners, while Kayla Briggs of Michigan State, Larkin Thomason of Alabama, Reagan Kotschau of Colorado and Summer Denigan of North Carolina have totaled 12.
