
Blue Devils Fall Out of Qualifying Round at All-American Championships

TULSA, OKLA. - Junior David Goulet was in singles action and combined with freshman Dylan Arnould in doubles action on Tuesday, both falling in the qualifying bracket at the 2006 Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships, hosted by the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla.
Goulet picked up a first-round win over Conner Pollock of Texas A&M in straight sets (6-4, 7-5) on Monday, but was defeated by 123rd-ranked Jason McNaughton of Southern California in the second round on Tuesday in a hard-fought three-set match (4-6, 7-5, 6-1).
The junior combined with Arnould in first-round doubles action, as the two were defeated by Artie Burmistrau and Ivan Puchkarova of Oklahoma State, 8-2.
Three Blue Devils were in action in the consolation round on Tuesday, with senior Joey Atas coming away with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Ance Cevka of Georgia State. Sophomore Kiril Dimitrov was defeated by Mathieu Dehaine of UCLA, 6-2, 6-1, while 111th-ranked Arnould fell to Davey Sandgren of Tennesse, 6-4, 6-3.
Senior Peter Rodrigues, the 44th-ranked player in the country, will be in action in the main draw of the tournament on Thursday, Oct. 5. Rodrigues is set to meet 7th-ranked Arnau Brugues of Tulsa at a time to be determined.
The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships offer the first national singles and doubles titles of the 2006-07 collegiate tennis season, and are followed by the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.
