No. 19 Duke Notches 5-0 Victory Over TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - The 19th-ranked Duke men's tennis team defeated No. 72 TCU, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Blue Devils improved to 7-5 with the win, as Duke took two of three matches in Texas over spring break.
The duo of senior Peter Rodrigues and sophomore Kiril Dimitrov started things off for Duke with an 8-3 victory over Christopher Biro and Caleb Bulls at the No. 3 spot. TCU then notched a victory at No. 2, as Radu Barbu and Andrew Ulrich defeated freshman Dylan Arnould and junior Alex Stone, 8-5.
The 11th-ranked tandem of senior Joey Atas and junior David Goulet then took a 9-7 decision over Cosman Cotet and Kriegler Brink at the No. 1 spot to clinch the doubles point for the Blue Devils. Atas and Goulet are 9-2 on the season in dual matches.
Singles action saw Duke allow TCU no victories. No. 95 Atas posted a 6-0, 6-4 win over Biro at No. 2 to put Duke ahead, 2-0, then Goulet defeated Barbu, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 3 spot to increase the Blue Devil advantage to 3-0. Clinching the victory, was 98th-ranked Arnould, who defeated Ulrich, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 5 slot.
Freshman Aaron Carpenter was also victorious on the day, as he recorded a 6-2, 7-5 win over Stuart Row at the No. 6 position.
The Blue Devils will next begin conference play at No. 24 Clemson (March 24) and No. 41 Georgia Tech (March 25).
