ATLANTA ? The Duke women's swimming & diving squad continued its stellar performance at the 2008 ACC Championships on Friday, as the Blue Devils notched four NCAA “B” standards and broke their fifth and sixth school records in three days of competition.
Duke is in sixth place with 191 points with one day of action remaining.

Freshman Ashley Twichell placed 10th in the 200 freestyle finals in a school record and NCAA “B” cut time of 1:49.19. The standard was her second of the championships, as she notched an NCAA “A” cut on day two after touching in 4:45.18 in the 500 freestyle finals. That mark broke the 27-year-old school record of 4:48.43 set in 1981 by Olympian Nancy Hogshead, while her 200 free mark today broke her own school record of 1:49.68 set earlier this season.
Freshman Katie Magee also participated in the 200 free finals, touching in 1:50.90 (20th place) for a lifetime best, while classmate Kirstie Jeffrey finished in 1:51.89 (22nd place), also in a personal-best time.
Duke's third NCAA “B” cut of the day came in the 100 breast event as sophomore Meredith Bannon touched in 1:03.31 in preliminary action then went on to place seventh in the finals with a mark of 1:03.67.

On the diving board, sophomore Julie Brummond notched a score of 331.35 on the three-meter board in finals action to take second place and best a school record.
In the final event of the night, the Blue Devil 400 medley relay team of Spearman, Bannon, Beall and Twichell notched Duke's sixth school record of the championships by finishing in 3:44.09. The time, an NCAA “B” standard, broke the previous Duke record of 3:46.35 set in 2003 by Katie Ness, Lauren Cornet, Amy Halligan and Sandberg.
The 400 medley relay team was the third Duke foursome to post a school-record setting mark at the championships.
