Performing admirably as were Nick Adamo and Mike Bell. Moving up two weight classes to 141 pounds, Adamo was unable to hold off Matt Rosen, getting pinned in 2:11. Bell suffered a similar fate as Chris Diaz registered a fall for six team points in 41 seconds.
Wrestling at 157 pounds for the first time this season, A.J. Guardado held Pete Yates off for a while as he dropped a 12-3 major decision. The loss was just his second in dual matches this season as he bumped up a weight class due to injuries.
Nuding got the team back on track at 165 pounds. He worked hard over the seven minutes to come away with a 5-1 decision over Adam Broda. The victory puts him at 2-2 against ACC foes and 9-3 in dual matches overall this season.
Junior Voris Tejada had another very tough loss at 174 pounds. He fell just short in a 2-1 decision against Anthony Trongone that put the Hokies in front 22-9 with three duals left.
Competing in just his third dual match of the season, Turner Rooney triumphed with a 7-3 decision against Anthony Trongone. He moves to 2-1 in dual matches this year and 12-11 overall.
Wade Van Sickle and Robert Holbrook closed out the competition at 197 and 285, respectively. Competing against D.J. Bruce, Van Sickle was pinned in 2:25 as the Hokies built their advantage to 25-15.
Holbrook turned in a commendable effort at heavyweight. Filling in at 285 pounds due to injuries on the squad, Holbrook took Tim Miller to overtime tied at one. Holbrook battled and battled during the overtime session and triumphed 4-1 to make it a 28-15 final.
