GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Leah Goldman made her NCAA Championships debut Thursday, competing in the 200-yard individual medley preliminaries on the opening day of action at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Goldman, who qualified for the NCAA meet with a provisional cut of 52.28 in the 100 butterfly, was also able to swim in the 200 IM after posting a 'B' cut of 1:58.60 in the event at last month's ACC Championship. Thursday morning's trials saw her clock 2:00.25 to finish 57th in the field.
The rookie from Burlingame, Calif., will be back in the water Friday in the 100 butterfly trials. She is seeded 21st in the event entering the morning session, which begins at 11 a.m. in Greensboro.
Fellow freshman and NCAA qualifier Isabella Paez is also eligible to compete in the 100 butterfly trials after recording a time of 53.97 at the conference championship.
