GREENSBORO, N.C. – Both Blue Devil qualifiers were in action Friday on the second day of the 2015 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championship, held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Duke freshmen Leah Goldman and Isabella Paez both competed in the 100-yard butterfly trials. Goldman, the program record-holder in the event, placed 32nd in the field with a time of 52.86. Paez tapped the wall at 53.62 for a career-best mark, moving her into fourth on the Blue Devils' all-time performance list. She also tied for 49th place overall.
Paez will return to the pool Saturday, March 21 in her premier event, the 200 butterfly. She gained NCAA qualification with a 1:58.60 clocking at the Bulldog Last Chance Meet earlier this month in Athens, Ga. Saturday morning's preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. in Greensboro.
