The Opening Hit
- Duke looks to continue its winning ways this weekend after beating No. 13 Princeton, 3-1, on the road. The Blue Devils bumped up one spot to No. 17 in the NFHCA weekly poll.
- The Blue Devils' three losses have all come against top-10 teams.
- Wake Forest is ranked 15th and coming off a 1-1 weekend with a loss to Ohio State and then a convincing 6-2 win over James Madison. The Demon Deacons are 2-3 overall.
- James Madison hosts Duke Sunday, its first game since the 6-2 setback at the hands of Wake Forest. The Dukes fell out of the rankings after consecutive losses to Appalachian State and Wake Forest.
- Duke broke through with three goals at Princeton and allowed just one despite the Tigers outshooting the Blue Devils 20-11 and giving up 10 penalty corners. Piper Hampsch made nine saves to earn ACC Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

Scouting The Demon Deacons
- Wake Forest comes to Durham with a No. 15 national ranking and a 2-3 overall record. The Demon Deacons' three losses came against the current respective Nos. 1 and 2 Michigan and Iowa. The third setback was against Big 10 foe Ohio State last weekend.
- In their two victories, the Deacons have scored a combined 11 goals (5-1, 6-2). Hannah Maxwell and Elisha Evans paced the offense with eight points apiece. Maxwell and Meike Lanckohr are the top goal scorers with three tallies, while Evans has a team-best four assists. Overall, 10 different players have scored a goal.
- Wake Forest is allowing 2.40 goals per game, but have given up just 16 penalty corners in the five outings. Tori Glaister has played all but 45 seconds in the cage and owns a 2.41 goals against average and a .520 save percentage. The Deacons are allowing opponents just 7.80 shots per game.
Series History
- Wake Forest and Duke meet for the 80th time in the programs' histories. It is the second most common opponent for Duke, behind North Carolina.
- Duke leads the series 44-35 and is 21-12 in Durham. Since 2018, Wake Forest holds a narrow 4-3 lead.

- Wake Forest scored twice in the opening quarter and went on to win 4-1 in Durham. Lily Posternak registered the lone goal for the Blue Devils, which outshot the Deacons, 14-12, for the game.

Scouting The Dukes
- James Madison is 3-3 overall and recently fell out of the top 25 after a pair of setbacks over the weekend. The Dukes most recently fell to Wake Forest, 6-2.
- The Dukes are averaging 2.17 goals per game on offense and are led by Eveline Zwager's 13 points from six goals and an assist. Zwager has 46 percent of the team's goals and 36 percent of the squads overall points.
- Defensively, James Madison is allowing 1.83 goals per game and has three shutouts. Nine of the 11 goals allowed came in two games. Florien Marcussen owns a 1.87 goals against average and a .625 save percentage. She is facing an average of 6.8 shots per game.

- James Madison and Duke are meeting for the 34th time and for the first time since 2019. Duke has won nine consecutive dating back to September 5, 2010. The last time the Blue Devils lost to the Dukes was in the NCAA Tournament in 2007.
- The Blue Devils have put up some big numbers against JMU, scoring five goals in 2018, seven in 2016 and nine in 2011. Four of the previous nine matchups have been decided by a single goal.
Last Time We Met
- Leah Crouse scored in the first minute of action and Noor van de Laar added one less than seven minutes later to lead Duke to the 2-0 victory in Harrisonburg.
- The game was a defensive battle with the two teams combining for just 10 shots - Duke four and James Madison six - and six penalty corners. Sammi Steele made two saves for Duke in the cage. Seven of the 11 starters for Duke are still on the team.

- Duke IS 2-3 overall and moved up one spot to No. 17 in the top 25 poll. The Blue Devils are coming off a 3-1 road victory with the three goals the most they've scored in a game this season.
- Four different players have a goal on the year as Duke looks to get its offense firing on all cylinders. The Blue Devils are averaging 7.4 shots per game and only 2.8 penalty corners per contest.
- Defensively, Duke is allowing 14.2 shots per game and 2.20 goals per game. The Blue Devils have given up 29 penalty corners, but opponents have only scored directly from a corner once. A second goal came after a Piper Hampsch save. Hampsch has played all but 30 minutes in the cage and leads the ACC ins saves with 29. She sports a .744 save percentage.
Penalty Corner Defense
- Duke's penalty corner defense has been stout this season as the Blue Devils have only allowed one goal directly off a corner. Duke gave up a second after an initial save from Hampsch on the direct shot off the penalty corner. Overall, Duke opponents have garnered 29 corners in five games.

- Duke and James Madison share just one common opponent so far this season. Both teams defeated Richmond with the Blue Devils edging the Spiders 1-0 and the Dukes blanking them 3-0.
