CARY, N.C. – Fall action officially got underway for the Blue Devils on Friday with the opening day of play at the Duke James Bonk Invitational.

Members of the Duke squad combined for 11 victories – six in doubles and five in singles – to kick off the three-day tournament in strong fashion. Â
The Blue Devils began the day in doubles action, with Andrew Dale and Andrew Zhang rolling into the finals of their draw with a 7-5 victory over North Carolina's Anuj Watane and Logan Zapp as well as the No. 2 seed in Wake Forest's Siddhant Banthia and Ben Draper 7-6 (7). Also notching two doubles wins and advancing to Sunday's finals in their draw were sophomores Niroop Vallabhaneni and Faris Khan when they bested Inigo Torre Martin and Tom Leblanc of VCU 6-2 and Josh Wilson and Goncalo Ferreira of Liberty 7-6 (6).
Connor Krug, Arturo Kam, Jake Krug, Vallabhaneni and Khan all cruised to victories in singles action. Kam, Jake Krug and Khan each defeated their opponent in two sets.
Play continues Saturday at the Cary Tennis Park, beginning with singles at 9 a.m.
