ALPHARETTA, Ga. – In a field that featured nine top-30 programs and four of the nation's top-five ranked golfers, Duke junior
Bryan Kim captured individual medalist honors as the No. 29 Blue Devils earned their second consecutive runner-up finish of the season at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate on Sunday at the Lakeside Course.
Duke finished with a 9-under-par team total of 855 (277-283-295), edging No. 26 USC (857) for second place and topping No. 14 Pepperdine and No. 18 Georgia Tech (both at 859). Top-ranked Virginia won the event with a 24-under 840.
Kim, a native of Brookeville, Maryland, carded rounds of 65, 69 and 71 for an 11-under 205 to secure his second individual title of the fall season. He clinched the victory with back-to-back birdies over his final two holes to finish two strokes clear of Pepperdine's Mahanth Chirravuri and three ahead of Virginia's Ben James, the No. 1-ranked collegiate golfer in the country.
NOTES
- Duke's opening-round 277 (-11) was its best score relative to par this season and stood as the second-best team round of the tournament.
- Bryan Kim's 7-under 65 on day one included seven birdies and an eagle, placing him atop the individual leaderboard.
- Kim recorded his 10th round in the 60s this fall with a second-round 69 and closed with a 71 on Sunday.
- He led the field with 18 birdies, tied for the tournament lead on par-3 scoring (-2), and now has a team-best 70 birdies this season.
- Daniel Choi fired a 3-under 69 in round two and tied for 21st at even-par 216, finishing fifth in par-5 scoring (-7).
- Ethan Evans tied for second in par-4 scoring (-4).
- Duke tied Virginia for the tournament lead with 62 birdies as a team.
- The Blue Devils have earned individual medalist honors in back-to-back years at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, with Kim following Evans' 2024 title.
- After winning the season-opening Rod Myers Invitational, Duke has now posted consecutive runner-up finishes.
