All three of the Blue Devils' losses came in games that went to overtime or shootouts, with two coming in battles with current No. 1 Maryland and No. 2 Northwestern at the ACC/B1G Challenge in September.

In the conference rankings, Duke is first in set pieces per game (7.67), tied for second in shutouts (7) and third in total penalty corners (115). The Blue Devils sit third in goals (42), points (111) and points per game (7.40), while also checking in at fourth in assists (29).
ACC CHAMPIONSHIP SCENARIOS:
With a win Friday Duke clinches the ACC regular season title outright and locks up the top seed in the upcoming ACC Championship at North Carolina.
Losses by both Duke and Wake Forest (at Louisville) would make the Blue Devils and Tar Heels co-champions, with North Carolina getting the No. 1 seed and Duke getting the No. 2 seed.
A Duke loss coupled with a Wake Forest win (at Louisville) would produce a three-way share of the ACC regular season crown between the Blue Devils, Demon Deacons and Tar Heels. Seeding for the ACC Championship would then be determined by goal differential, with UNC earning the No. 1 seed and the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds hashed out based on Friday scoring totals.
SOLID DUKE DEFENSE:
Duke's defense has been solid during the 2026 season. The Blue Devils continuously bring relentless pressure up-and-down the field, while forcing the opposition into tough or ill-advised passes.
The Blue Devils boast one of the ACC's top scoring defenses, leading the league while ranking sixth in the NCAA with an average of 0.47 shutouts per game. Duke's 1.18 goals against average is second in the ACC and checks in at 13th nationally, with the seven shutouts tied for second in the conference.
Part of the Blue Devils' success defensively is that they limit the opponent's chances to score, allowing just 7.8 shots per game. Duke has held 10 opponents to less than 10 shots and nine teams to fewer than five attempts.
When opponents are able to get a shot off, just over half (.521) get through to junior goalkeeper Kaiya Chepow.
The Blue Devils are allowing just 3.3 penalty corners per game, tied with Maryland and Miami (OH) for the fewest among NFHCA top-20 teams.
DUKE-NORTH CAROLINA SERIES HISTORY

Duke's last win in the Tobacco Road rivalry came in 2017 via a 3-2 win on Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium. The Blue Devils also defeated the Tar Hills in Chapel Hill, 3-0, during the 2016 season.
