DURHAM, N.C. – Duke volleyball head coach Ahen Kim announced the addition of Maggie Catherina, Benard Cutrone and Jaime Kosiorek as assistant coaches for the Blue Devils.
Catherina will serve as an assistant coach and director of operations for Kim's staff in the upcoming season. She joins Duke after spending the 2025 campaign as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at American University, where she helped guide the Eagles to the Patriot League Championship and was part of the program's 2025 Patriot League Coaching Staff of the Year.
During her year at American, Catherina played a key role in the development of multiple Patriot League award winners, including the player of the year, rookie of the year, setter of the year and libero of the year. She helped six players land on the All-League team and mentored an AVCA Region Setter of the Year and an All-America honoree.
Catherina served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Lafayette College during the 2024 season, following a three-year stint as head coach at Goucher College. While at Goucher, she totaled 13 wins and helped the program earn AVCA Team Academic Awards in 2021 and 2022. She began her collegiate coaching career at Rowan University (2016-20), where she helped develop the 2018 NJCAA Defensive Player of the Year, the program's first All-America honoree in 2019 and guided the team to four consecutive AVCA Team Academic Awards.
A former student-athlete at Rowan, Catherina competed for the Profs from 2012-16 and earned her bachelor's degree in general studies in 2017.
Cutrone arrives in Durham after spending the past four seasons at Purdue, where he served as a graduate assistant before transitioning into the role of performance analyst and technical coordinator. At Purdue, Cutrone was responsible for opponent scouting, game preparation and assisting with offensive strategy along with defensive game plans.
During his four-year tenure, the Boilermakers posted a 98-34 record, highlighted by three consecutive NCAA Regional Semifinal appearances (2023-25), a Regional Final appearance in 2025 and 31 wins over ranked opponents. He contributed to the development of six All-America honorees and 10 All-Big Ten selections, accounting for 19 total all-conference honors during his time with the program.
Cutrone earned his bachelor's degree in supply chain management from Penn State in 2021, with minors in management information systems, legal environment of business and sociology. He completed his Master's of Science from the Health and Kinesiology Department at Purdue in 2024.
Kosiorek will serve as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Blue Devils after spending four seasons in the same role at UMBC. During her time in Baltimore, Maryland, she helped guide the Retrievers to a 55-45 overall record, highlighted by America East Championship titles in 2022, 2023 and 2025, along with NCAA Tournament appearances in each of those seasons. UMBC's success culminated in the program being named the 2025 America East Coaching Staff of the Year.
Prior to her time at UMBC, she served as an assistant coach at Duquesne during the 2021 season, helping the Dukes to a 13-16 record, including seven conference wins and a berth in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals. She also gained experience as a volunteer assistant coach at Cincinnati during the spring of 2021.
Before entering the coaching ranks, Kosiorek played professionally for Brøndby Volleyball Club in 2020. She competed collegiately at Ohio University (2014-18), where she was a four-time All-MAC selection and earned her bachelor's degree in education in 2018.
