DURHAM, N.C. – After turning in an outstanding showing featuring a trio of first-place finishes at the Duke Invitational this past weekend, Duke track and field sophomore
Braelyn Baker was dubbed the ACC Women's Outdoor Track Performer of the Week. The honor is Baker's second in the last three weeks.
The Carnation, Washington, standout notched a pair of personal bests and posted individual wins in the women's 100-meter and 200-meter events, with the third victory coming as a member of the women's 4x100m relay. After turning in a career-best of 11.32 in the 100 prelims to book her spot in the final, Baker secured her first win of the weekend behind a time of 11.34.
Competing as a member of the 4x100m relay alongside
Taylor Aska,
Mia Edim and
Maya Collins, Baker helped aid the Blue Devils to a blistering finish of 43.88. The group's mark smashed the 11-year-old meet record and slotted themselves third on the Duke charts.
Baker concluded her weekend with a first-place finish in the 200, dashing a personal best of 22.76 to become just the third Duke woman all-time to finish under 23 seconds. Her time unseated both the meet and five-year-old program records.
Duke will feature a split group as the team embarks on a tri-meet weekend. Blue Devils will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays (Walnut, California) from Apr. 15-18, the Wake Forest Invitational (Winston-Salem) Apr. 16-17 and the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational (Gainesville, Florida) Apr. 17-18.
