No. 19 Duke Squares Off with No. 6 Georgetown

DURHAM, N.C. - Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium will close the weekend with a ranked matchup between No. 19 Duke and No. 6 Georgetown on Sunday, Aug. 30. The Blue Devils (2-1) and Hoyas (2-0-1) are slated for a 6 p.m. start, with tickets available for purchase here. The match will also air live on ACC Network, with Mike Watts and Paddy Foss on the call.

The top-20 clash marks Duke's first ranked matchup of the 2026 season. The Blue Devils finished the 2025 season with a winning record over ranked opponents, going 3-2, including a road victory at No. 3 Princeton during the NCAA Tournament.

Sunday is the final non-conference match before Duke begins conference play, with the Blue Devils hitting the road to Wake Forest on Saturday, Sept. 5 for their ACC opener.

MATCHUP NOTES

Duke and Georgetown meet for the second consecutive season but just the sixth time overall, as both teams have won twice en route to a 2-2-1 all-time series record.
The two teams played to the lone draw of the series last year, with the match at Georgetown ending 2-2.
Duke scored two late goals to pull back a draw in the final moments of the match. Kenan Hot and Leonardo D'Ambrosio scored for the Blue Devils, with the two goals coming less than a minute apart.

FIRST TOUCH

Duke is looking to bounce back from a back-and-forth affair versus Furman on Thursday.
The Blue Devils held a 2-1 lead over the Paladins in the first 20 minutes, courtesy of a first-half brace from Ulfur Bjornsson, but conceded the next three goals before a late goal from Tucker Smith led to the final scoreline of 4-3 in favor of the visitors.
Bjornsson leads the team on offense in the early going, with a total of eight points from three goals and two assists. The senior striker eclipsed 30 career goals with his brace against Furman.

YOUTH MOVEMENT

Duke's starting XI in the early going of the 2026 campaign has been youth driven, with three freshmen in the field and a freshman in goal starting in the first two games against Seton Hall and Cal Baptist. Logan Moniz and Jack Ottley both tallied their first career goals and were joined by starter Max Steelman, while Max Deisenhofer went 2-0 in goal with three saves.
Duke started a fifth freshman, Ethan Congleton, against Furman, marking the first time since April 3, 2021 when at least five freshmen started for a Duke side.
Congleton tallied the game-winning goal against Cal Baptist in the second half with a one-touch volley to the far post.

KICKS FOR KIDS

The Duke men's and women's soccer programs have partnered with Duke Children's to launch the Kicks for Kids initiative in support of Pets at Duke, an impactful service of the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program.
Pets at Duke brings specially trained therapy dogs to patients receiving care in the hospital and clinics, providing comfort and companionship during their treatment.
Kicks for Kids pledges are made based on the combined goals, assists, shots, corner kicks and saves recorded by both the Duke men's and women's programs.

FREEMAN FIELD

Last season, Duke announced the naming of Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium, honoring a multi-million dollar gift to enhance the experience of men's and women's lacrosse and soccer.
