Duke Opens 2026-27 Season at Sahalee Players Championship

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke men's golf opens its 2026-27 campaign this weekend, as the Blue Devils travel to Sammamish, Washington, for the Sahalee Players Championship, held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-13, at Sahalee Country Club.
The Blue Devils will begin their second season under head coach Bob Heintz against a competitive 12-team field in which every program finished the 2025-26 season ranked among the top 50 in the Scoreboard rankings. Seven teams finished among the top 20, led by No. 3 Florida, No. 5 Oklahoma State and No. 9 North Carolina. No. 11 Arizona, No. 14 Pepperdine, No. 15 Arizona State and No. 17 Illinois round out the top-20 contingent, while No. 22 UCLA, No. 28 Duke, No. 44 San Diego State, No. 45 Washington and No. 48 California complete the field.
The 54-hole stroke-play event will be contested on Sahalee's South and North courses, playing to a par of 72 at 7,007 yards. The teams are scheduled for 36 holes beginning at 10 a.m. ET Saturday, before Sunday's final round tees off at 10:20 a.m. ET.
Duke enters the season following a 2025-26 campaign that featured seven top-five finishes, including a victory at the Rod Myers Invitational and four runner-up performances. The Blue Devils advanced through the NCAA Marana Regional and placed 13th at the NCAA Championship, their best national finish since 2018. Duke also established a program record with 27 under-par team rounds and posted the second-lowest single-season scoring average in school history.
Senior Bryan Kim leads Duke's five-player lineup at Sahalee and enters the season after a record-setting junior campaign. Kim posted a 70.41 stroke average, the second-best single-season mark in program history, while setting Duke records with 28 par-or-better rounds, 24 under-par rounds and 18 rounds in the 60s. The Brookeville, Maryland, native won twice, capturing medalist honors at the Bryan Bros Collegiate and Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, and earned All-ACC, Golfweek third-team All-America and PING All-America honorable mention recognition. He enters his senior season as a Golfweek preseason second-team All-American.
Kim is also familiar with Sahalee, having made his collegiate debut at the event as a freshman in 2023. He tied for 34th that year as Duke placed fifth in the first edition of the Sahalee Players Championship contested as a collegiate team event. The Blue Devils returned in 2024 and again finished fifth.
Juniors Sam Mukherjee, John Hiller and Ollie Mukherjee join Kim in the lineup, along with sophomore transfer Carson Looney. Freshman Clark Mason will make his collegiate debut while competing as an individual. Duke's 2026-27 roster includes four newcomers and six returning players.
Ollie Mukherjee appeared in eight tournaments and 25 rounds last season, including both NCAA postseason events. He carded a career-low 4-under-par 68 during the NCAA Marana Regional and finished the year with a 74.32 scoring average. Sam Mukherjee played 18 rounds across six tournaments, averaging 74.44, while Hiller also competed in six events and posted a 75.22 average.
Looney makes his Duke debut after transferring from VCU, where he was named the 2026 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year and earned All-Atlantic 10 honors. The Bethesda, Maryland, native led VCU with a 72.21 scoring average as a freshman, recorded four top-10 finishes and won twice before placing second at the Atlantic 10 Championship with a 9-under-par 207.
Mason, a native of St. Petersburg, Florida, is one of three freshmen on Duke's roster and will be the first of the Blue Devils' newcomers from the 2026 signing class to compete collegiately.
