DURHAM, N.C. – A total of four members of the Duke women's soccer team –
Katie Shea Collins,
Sam Courtwright,
Mia Minestrella and
Cameron Roller – have been named to the 2026 Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List, as announced Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization (IWSOC).
The four Blue Devils on the list are the most of any team nationally.
The 2026 midseason watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Women's All-America Committee, chaired by Jennifer Rockwood, from a pool of the top-performing players of the first half of the 2026 season. The list was narrowed from 62 players on the preseason watch list to 30.
Collins, a product of Gallatin, Tennessee, has made an immediate impact on the Blue Devils after transferring in prior to the season. She has collected six goals and four assists for 16 points. Collins scored in five consecutive games, including two goals and an assist against top-ranked Stanford recently. She currently ranks 14th nationally with three game-winning goals, while her six goals are eighth in the ACC.
Another transfer that has come to Durham and made an impact in the midfield is Courtwright. A native of Dallas, Texas, Courtwright has collected three goals and six assists for 12 points for the Blue Devils. She currently ranks 20th nationally and third in the ACC with a 0.60 assists-per-game average. Courtwright is also second in the league with six assists.
One of the top goal scorers in the nation, Minestrella leads Duke with 10 goals on the year, along with two assists and 22 points. She recently scored in six consecutive games and became the first Blue Devil to post three straight seasons with 10 or more goals. Minestrella, who is from Redondo Beach, California, is seven goals away from matching the Duke career record. She ranks sixth nationally and third in the ACC with 10 goals.
Roller, the 2024 ACC Defender of the Year, has paced the Blue Devils on the defensive end while starting all 10 matches and playing a team-high 792 minutes. A product of Sherman, Texas, Roller has helped Duke to four shutouts on the year, while also adding a pair of assists. She has helped lead the Blue Devils to 33 clean sheets over her four-year career.
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor, recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by a vote of Division I head coaches who are members of the IWSOC and United Soccer Coaches. The award is named in honor of the late Robert Hermann, the St. Louis, Missouri, businessman and soccer executive who founded the National Professional Soccer League — the first professional soccer league in the United States, which later became the North American Soccer League. Hermann was inducted into the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012.
A total of 15 players will be named 2026 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on December 4, at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes and three players will be named finalists. The 2026 recipient will be announced January 8, 2027, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis.
Next up for the Blue Devils will be California Saturday, Oct. 3 at 5 p.m., at home inside Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium.
