Alison Toth is the director of Duke Women’s Sports Medicine Program and an Assistant Professor of Surgery (Orthopaedics).
She completed her orthopaedics surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center in 2000, and her sports medicine and shoulder surgery fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery at the Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City in 2001.
She was an assistant team doctor for the NFL’s New York Giants and the Iona College Gaels during the 2000-01 season.
Toth, a New Fairfield, Conn., native, graduated from Yale in 1990, where she played varsity basketball. Toth was the 1994 Valedictorian of her medical school class.

In addition to her surgical work, Toth has also achieved over 50 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters which focus primarily on orthopedic repair and reconstruction.
She is in her 19th year as Team Physician for Duke women’s athletics. The Duke Women’s Sports Medicine Program is one of the first programs in the country dedicated to the care of active women.
