Erica Aresco joined Duke Athletics in December 2023 as Senior Associate Athletics Director and Chief Financial Officer. In this role, she aligns the department's financial strategy with Duke's vision for excellence in athletics and academics. Aresco oversees comprehensive financial planning, performance reporting and manages both daily and long-term financial operations. She focuses on enhancing operational efficiencies and aligns with university financial practices, fostering collaboration with university financial leaders. Additionally, Aresco oversees Business Operations, Information Technology (IT) and Recreation and Physical Education.
Prior to Duke, Aresco served as Senior Associate Athletics Director at Columbia University since July 2022, having initially joined as Associate AD/Chief Financial Officer in 2016. Her contributions at Columbia included strategic planning, budget development and personnel management. She also led the Hiring, Retention and Engagement subcommittee for the We Roar Together Committee, advocating for diversity, racial justice, equity and inclusion.
Aresco's background features roles at The Washington Post as a Senior Financial Analyst and Financial Manager, focusing on revenue forecasting, and at the National Geographic Society, managing financial operations. Her experience in college athletics administration includes positions at George Washington University and Wagner College, emphasizing her expertise in budget management and financial analysis.
A native of Barneveld, N.Y., Aresco earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the State University of New York at New Paltz and an MBA with a concentration in Management from Wagner College. As a student-athlete at SUNY New Paltz, she was a five-time NCAA Division III honorable mention All-American and a two-time All-SUNYAC performer in swimming, setting school records and capturing a conference title in the 100 breaststroke. Her collegiate career was marked by the prestigious Kenneth F. Burda Award, celebrating her outstanding academic achievement and leadership.
