Ranier Rackley joined the Duke football staff in April 2026 and serves as the director of player development. In his role he helps student-athletes stay organized, navigate their personal lives and prepare for their upcoming careers. He also assists in Duke's recruiting operation.
Prior to his time with the Blue Devils, Rackley served as the head coach at Rolesville High School for three seasons (2023-24-25), leading the Rams to a 25-8 record. He led Rolesville to a 2024 North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) 4A state runner-up finish. A member of the new CAP 8A Conference, Rolesville posted a 9-4 overall record in 2025 and finished second in the league before advancing to the third round of the 8A state playoffs.
Rackley served as the junior varsity head coach and running backs coach at Rolesville from 2020-22 before his appointment as head coach. From 2017-19, Rackley was the junior varsity head coach and running backs coach at Leesville Road High School. In his final season at Leesville Road, the Price advanced to the NCHSAAÂ 4A state championship game.Â
Before breaking into coaching, Rackley gained five years playing experience within the Arena Football League with the Billings Wolves (2016), Iowa Barnstormers (2014-15), Nebraska Danger (2013) and Sioux Falls Storm (2012). Rackley was a member of the Elizabeth City State program from 2009-11 and received first team all-league accolades as a running back.Â
Rackley received his general studies degree from Southern New Hampshire University.
