
No. 8 Duke Falls to No. 39 Miami 6-1 on Final Day of Hidden Dual Tournament

Miami, Fla. - On the final day of the Hidden Dual Tournament in Miami, Fla., No. 8 Duke was upset by No. 39 Miami, losing five of the six singles matches and all three doubles contests.
Alex Stone picked up the lone win on the day for the Blue Devils as he earned a 6-3, 6-3 decision over the Hurricanes' Vivek Subramanian. Kiril Dimitrov, suffered his first loss as a collegiate player, as Danny Vallverdu won in a super tiebreaker in the final set due to time restraints 7-6, 3-4, 1-0 (10-5). Chris Brown and Joey Atas also lost in three sets. Eric Hechtman rallied to defeat Brown 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 and Cohen won in a back-and-forth match against Atas 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.
Peter Rodrigues and Ned Samuelson were also in action for Duke on Monday. Rodrigues lost in straight sets to Luigi D'Agord 7-5, 6-2. Samuelson also fell in two sets with a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Tim Krebs.
Miami swept the three doubles matches against the Blue Devils. D'Agord and Vallverdu handed Atas and Ludovic Walter an 8-3 loss. Krebs and Subramanian defeated Stone and Rodrigues, 8-3. Samuelson and Dimitrov lost the closest of the three matches, 8-5, to Hechtman and Cohen.
Duke will begin the spring season on January 29 when they host their first dual match of the year at 6 p.m. against Old Dominion.
