CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) - Jasmine Thomas scored 15 points to lead No. 9 Duke to a 53-41 victory over No. 22 Purdue in the Paradise Jam on Thursday.
Chante Black added 12 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks for the Blue Devils (4-0).
Thomas converted a three-point play after she was fouled on a breakaway layup with 2 minutes left to give the Blue Devils their biggest lead of the game at 51-38 and help to seal the victory.
Purdue jumped out to a fast start, going up 12-2 on a 3-pointer by Lakisha Freeman with 12:42 to play in the first half. Duke responded with a 17-0 run over the next 6 minutes to make it 19-12.
Thomas hit a runner at the buzzer to put the Blue Devils ahead 25-18.
Purdue managed to stay close until the final minutes despite shooting 29 percent from the floor and turning the ball over 25 times.
Danielle Campbell led the Boilermakers (2-1) with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Natasha Bogdanova added 12 points.
Duke, which shot 32 percent from the floor, will face Temple in the second round of the tournament on Friday. Purdue faces Temple on Saturday.
