DURHAM, N.C. ? Senior Joey Atas and junior David Goulet have been named ITA All-Americas for their outstanding doubles play throughout the 2007 season, as was announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Friday.
Atas and Goulet combined for a mark of 16-7 in dual match action this season, including a 7-5 mark versus ACC opponents, while playing all matches at the No. 1 doubles flight. The Blue Devil duo went 23-11 overall on the year, as Duke reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament before suffering a narrow 4-3 loss to Alabama.
The All-America honor marks the second consecutive nod for Atas, as he gained All-America status in 2005 (doubles), while the accolade is the first of its kind for Goulet.
Duke ends the season ranked 17th in the nation, while Atas and Goulet combine to form the country's No. 9 doubles team.
All-America teams for all divisions are currently available on the ITA website at www.ITAtennis.com .
