Duke Ends Wake Forest Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Duke ended the Wake Forest Invite on Sunday and closed the tournament with two doubles flight semifinal appearances and four singles quarterfinal trips.

The Blue Devils earned a trip to the Flight B doubles bracket finals as the duo of Yannick Alexandrescou and Jakub Smejcky captured two matches. Alexandrescou and Smejcky topped pairs from Davidson and Mercer to reach the championship match.

In the Flight 1 singles bracket, Alexandrescou and Dylan Long reached the quarterfinals. In Flight 2, Sebastian Eie and Smejcky picked up opening-round wins to advance to the quarterfinals. Smejcky also topped Cole Thurgur of UNC Charlotte, 6-3, 6-4, to reach the flight semifinals before withdrawing due to injury.

Duke returns to action Thursday, November 5 at the ITA Sectional Championship in Charlottesville, Virginia.
