ATHENS, Ga. ? Duke's doubles tandem of Kiril Dimitrov and Alain Michel won their quarterfinal match on the third day of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga.

Dimitrov and Michel earned an 8-5 victory over Virginia Tech's Yoann Re and Sebastian Jacques in the Division I quarterfinals. The Blue Devils' duo will move on to the semifinals where they will face Marcos Olivares and Alex Ahlgren of East Tennessee State on Monday.

The other Duke doubles team in action on Sunday was Jared Pinsky and Aaron Carpenter. Pinsky and Carpenter lost their quarterfinal match in the Division II bracket, 8-4, to Chris Welte and Freddy Prandecki of N.C. State.

In singles action, sophomore Reid Carleton knocked off the top seed in the tournament and 12th-ranked player in the country, Nate Schnugg of Georgia to start the day. Carleton won the first set 6-4 and then dominated the second set with a 6-0 win. He then went to the semifinals where he faced No. 31 Enrique Olivares and lost 6-1, 6-4.

Junior David Lue advanced to the finals of the Division III singles bracket on Sunday with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 win over David Hopkins of Wake Forest. Lue took on Mark Oljaca of South Florida in the finals and lost in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. Oljaca eliminated Carpenter in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 to make the finals.

Dimitrov won his second straight singles match in consolation play. He faced Chris Doerr of Mississippi State and cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Dylan Arnould also played a consolation match and lost a super tiebreaker to No. 80 Vijay Paul of Vanderbilt 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7).

The tournament is being hosted by the University of Georgia at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. The remaining matches will be played on Monday.
