TULSA, Okla. - Duke's Reid Carleton and Henrique Cunha won two doubles matches to come within one match from qualifying for the main draw of the D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
Carleton and Cunha started the day with an 8-5 win over Anton Bobytskyi and Eric West of Oklahoma State. The Blue Devils pair then faced the No. 2 seed in qualifying, North Carolina's No. 29 Clay Donato and Stefan Hardy. Carleton and Cunha won by the same score as their first match, advancing with an 8-5 win. The Duke duo is now 5-1 on the season and will square off against Virginia's Milo Johnson and Santiago Villegas on Wednesday for a spot in the main draw.
Cunha also stayed alive in qualifying with a straight set win over Fresno State's Mirko Zapletal, 6-2, 6-3. Cunha is now 10-1 in singles this season and will take on Tennessee's Matt Brewer next to see who advances to the main draw.
Senior Dylan Arnould fell to Kentucky's No. 70 Eric Quigley in his second qualifying match. Quigley moved on with a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
Wednesday will be the final day of qualifying with the main draw scheduled to begin on Thursday.
